Chicken, Pig, Cow by Ruth Ohi

Chicken, Pig, Cow (A Ruth Ohi Picture Book)In Chicken, Pig, Cow, written and illustrated by Ruth Ohi, a little girl makes some creatures out of clay and builds them a barn out of Popsicle sticks.  The clay creatures come to life and want to explore, but the barn doesn't have a door.  Chicken and pig manage to climb on top of cow and escape but cow is stuck in the barn...until the girl's dog knocks the barn over and sends the cow flying. In the process Dog makes a door in the barn and ends up making friends with Chicken, Pig, and Cow.

Anna loved this book!  I expect any day to find some creatures and a Popsicle stick barn in our house.

It was on Ruth Ohi's website that I discovered that this is actually the first in a series of books about Chicken, Pig, and Cow.  I will definitely be watching for the others.  There are also Activity Sheets for Chicken, Pig and Cow on Ruth Ohi's website.  Included in the activity sheets are pictures to make popsicle stick puppets, a maze, drawing sheets, etc.  Be sure to check it out to add to the fun of this book.
