I love this book! It's the design of Lemons Are Not Red by Laura Vaccaro Seegar that makes it great. The first page starts with the simple words "Lemons are not...." and on the next page is just the word "RED" and there is a lemon shape cut out in the yellow page making the lemon appear red, but when you turn the page that lemon shaped cut out is now on a red page and the lemon appears yellow, and so goes the book. Cutouts in every other page make shapes magically change colors.
This is a great book for an art lesson or unit study about colors.
On Laura Vaccaro Seegar's website you will find her bio and a list of her books. I will definitely be looking for more books by her. Also on her site you will find a link to a Laura Vaccaro Seegar: About the Author pdf file which contains suggested activities for many of her books. For Lemons are Not Red she suggests getting the children to make their own pages like the ones in the book and gives simple instructions on how to do it. I think we're going to have to try that soon.
We'd love to hear your thoughts about Lemons Are Not Red. We think it is a great book.
I like the title and the concept!
