Anna loved the story, even though it was a little sad. I like that it introduced this historical hero that we will learn about in the future. I'm hoping it will help Anna remember the name and the bravery of Laura. In the back of the book the author includes some historical facts about Laura Secord and her importance in Canadian history. I didn't actually read this to Anna this reading but will in the future.
A different children's book is featured every day of the year, with a special effort to feature at least one book a week by a Newfoundland author and at least one book a week by a Canadian author. Also, at least every Sunday a Christian themed book is featured.
