The Turnip Top Pony by Catherine Simpson

The Turnip Top Pony, written by Catherine Simpson and illustrated by Joanne Snook-Hann, is a cute book about a Newfoundland pony, named Kit, that gets blamed for getting into the gardens and eating the turnip tops.  Anna, the pony's owner, is not convinced that Kit is guilty.  There are some pretty funny happenings as they try to find out the truth.

Both the author and illustrator of this book are Newfoundlanders and both have worked together on other books.

If you would like to learn more about the Newfoundland pony check out the Newfoundland Pony Society website

This book would be a fun addition to a unit study on Newfoundland or on horses/ponies.

Anna and I enjoyed the book and we'd love to hear your thoughts if you decide to check it out.
