In New Boots for Hudson, written and illustrated by Marc Tetro, Hudson, a husky dog living in Miami, Manitoba, doesn't like the cold, especially on his feet. He is thrilled when he wins a trip to Miami, Florida, but he soon realizes that there is no place like home and is happy to return, especially now that he has new boots to help keep his feet warm.
This seemed like a fitting book to feature at this time because the Iditarod, an annual dog sled race held in Alaska, starts tomorrow and dog booties are included on the list of mandatory items that each musher must have on hand throughout the race. So while it may seem funny for dogs to wear boots, there are times when it is necessary.
