Ten Little Sleepyheads, written by Elizabeth Provost and illustrated by Donald Saaf, is the perfect bedtime story. It is a counting down, rhyming book with lots of repeated words. Ten little bugs are getting ready for bed and as they go through each before bed activity another little bug drops off to sleep. It is fun to look for the new sleeping bug in each two page spread.
Anna loved this book, partially because with the repetition of words she could read most of it herself.
It is a great book for bedtime but it can also be used to review the math concept of counting down. It can also inspire a study of the many different kinds of bugs.
